Let's Get Political!

Let's get with this sick political outrage, man! Pine Brush, New York is on the hotspot...
Check out the big scandal here...

First off, The United Stated has no legal, official language and it would be unconstitutional for there to be one. growing up in southern Colorado, we used to say the pledge in Spanish in elementary school. I was a little white girl who just arrived from a Republican dominated community who went to catholic school. We said prayers after the pledge there, so I really didn't think it was all *too* strange that this Hispanic community I live in now said it in Spanish (anything 'new' is a little strange).

I also understand that there is outrage over "God" being replaced by "Allah". that is a 1000 word story for a different time, but in EVERY religion there is a supreme god of sorts, no matter the name, even monotheistic religions have a god of all gods. Satan and Hades can be added to that group to get a wider perspective, as they are gods of the underworld. Personally, I see all gods as one in the same, creating a divine power. When the "negative" gods are added, it simply becomes the essence of Man.

I was partially raised by an Argentine grandmother and a German grandmother. Either woman was married to a self-enlisted 'Nam vet. I myself work in a Veterans nursing home and am well aware of the pride those men take over their foreign wives

Now don't get me wrong, I refuse to blindly pledge my anything to the U.S.... but you get the point. As mentioned, I work in a Vet's NH. I take care of these people every day and dare say they are my friends, however, even as they are wheeled to that black van, covered by a flag, my hand is nowhere near my heart. In high school, I would stand. I would stand for something: Human ignorance. War is no laughing matter, of course, and the poor souls who sold it for a paycheck, title, or ulterior motive are only human. A draft notice is forcing a man to fight for something he may not give two shits about, but he is still shot down. He is a human.

I see the effects of war even on women who have never stepped foot outside the country. The delusions, the PTSD, the anger, and fight on my mens' faces and actions are real.

So I stand for them. The ones whose only crime was being an American.
